The Monterey Peninsula is one of the world’s
most beautiful locales, and its homes are in
high demand. The stunning scenery, mild
Mediterranean climate and convenient location
makes this section of the Central Coast an
extremely desirable place to live. That demand
is reflected in real estate prices, and buyers
pay a premium for ocean views. According to the
Monterey County Association of Realtors, the
average price of a Carmel home during the first
quarter of 2004 was $1.4 million. Pebble Beach
houses averaged $1.6 million during the same
time period, while homes in Carmel Valley sold
for an average price of $996,000. More
affordable prices were found in Salinas, where
homes averaged $417,000; Seaside, where homes
averaged $479,000; Marina, where homes averaged
$498,000; and North Monterey County, where the
average prices was $486,000. |
