Four major hospitals operate in Monterey County, including
the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, which
is also known as CHOMP. Founded in 1934, CHOMP includes
a 169-bed main facility at 23625 Holman Highway 68, and
16 satellite offices throughout the county.
Two other hospitals –Natividad Medical Center and Salinas
Valley Memorial Hospital are located in Salinas. South
County residents are served by the George L. Mee Memorial
Hospital in King City.
The Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, along with
several private businesses, provide in-home health care
services to Monterey County residents. Walk-in medical
clinics are located on and around the peninsula. In
addition, a number of private physicians, chiropractors
and other health care professionals have offices on
the Monterey Peninsula. There area also several retirement
homes and assisted living facilities in the community.
