MPCC Chair's Message from
Terry Low
Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce’s 100th Year
As your elected Chair, I'm pleased to be able to
serve you during such a historic year - the
100th Anniversary.
A member of MPCC and small business owner since
2001, I've come to understand the needs and
challenges business owners face and the
increasing role that the Chamber plays. Having
been on the receiving end of the Chamber's
benefits, I'm honored to be leveraged as an
instrument for improvement.
Member value has long been a tradition and key
selling point of the Chamber. In an effort
towards positive change, the 2008 Board and
staff has been engaged in over 300 hours of
strategic leadership and planning. This out of
the box behavior has been designed specifically
to address the core issues members feel are most
important to the health and vitality of their
businesses and community.
Calls for action emerged including stronger
business legislative advocacy, improved
membership resource development, extended
educational workshops for both owners and
employees, quality networking and lead
generation, establishing cooperative
partnerships with local governments and
Chambers, and sustainability through the local
greening of business.
We're rolling out these improved services to
improve value to you and answer the age-old
question "What has the Chamber done for me
lately?". Continually asking us this question
keeps us accountable and assures your membership
is working hard for you. More importantly you'll
learn of ways that you can get engaged,
educated, and involved!
We've built a high-performance organization at
MPCC.
Our esteemed President, Astrid Coleman, has
assembled her dream team (staff). Please visit
our newly remodeled Chamber office and learn
what the staff can do to support you.
A 2008 dream team (Board) has been assembled
consisting of the Peninsula's brightest leaders.
They'll be present at all Chamber events; so
please say hello.
The question is now in your court. How can we
help you assemble your dream team and reach your
business goals in 2008 and beyond?
Your ideas and suggestions are always welcome
and desired. Email me directly at
tlow@byte-technology.com or contact the Chamber
at 648-5360.
Warm Regards,
Terry Low
2008 MPCC Board Chair
