Water Securing a safe, sufficient,
stable and secure water supply is essential to
the well being of the Monterey Peninsula.
The Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce
therefore supports the following:
1. A sound local governing body that will:
a. Provide leadership and take responsibility
for augmenting the water supply and managing
water resources;
b. Establish equitable water management policies
and procedures for the benefit of the entire
community and the environment;
c. Focus on water supply and quality issues and
not on land use issues.
2. Continued promotion of water conservation
through educational programs and the
accomplishment of equitable water conservation
measures among residential, commercial,
governmental and environmental concerns;
3. Cost-effective water supply projects that
correspond to adopted general plans and housing
elements;
4. Equitable cost and distribution policies
between residential, governmental, public agency
and commercial water users;
5. Water runoff and stormwater runoff policies
and programs based on sound science and
engineering and equitable cost distribution for
required projects and programs between
residential, governmental, public agency and
commercial property owners including the
increase availability of reclaimed water.
