Born at Fort Ord in 1964, raised in Central and
Northern California
B.A. in Fine Art from U. C. Davis
I have been working in construction during the
summers since I was 15 years old. After I
graduated college, I moved to Spain for a year,
joined the merchant marine and worked on oil
tankers when I ran out of money and couldn’t get
back from Spain, then started working for
Bellingham Marine Industries, a large marine
construction company, while I did graduate
studies in art at Sacramento State. I was
eventually promoted to upper management and
stopped going to classes.
My wife and I moved to the Monterey area in
1993, when she was accepted to a masters program
in Marine Studies. I worked for a few
construction companies in the area before
accepting a job at Carmel Property Services.
Over the years I went from carpenter to job
supervisor to construction manger to owner. We
now have 25 employees doing high end residential
construction. Seven of our employees are green
certified. We are striving to be the best
resource for sustainable construction practices
in the region.
